The Vice Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has hinted that the manifesto of the biggest opposition party will address all the needs of teachers and nurses in the country.

The NDC running mate further assured teachers and nurses of enhanced remuneration when they come into power in 2021.

According to the former Education Minister, the next NDC government will make sure teachers and nursing trainees benefit from the innovative financial interventions.

She opined that the financial interventions will include increased training allowances and educational loan facilities that will support their education.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made the promise when she met and interacted with trainee teachers and representatives of teacher unions at the Gbewaa College of Education and trainee nurses at the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College.

She added that the NDC’s yet-to-be-launched manifesto has comprehensive solutions to most of the problems and hardship facing Ghanaians.

“Our manifesto is of a different nature this time,” she said.

She is of the opinion that the NDC has policies that will do more for the teaching and nursing professions.

The Vice Presidential Candidate for the NDC has also said she will ensure maternity leave is increased to four months from three when they come into power.

“Giving four months of maternity leave to women is in order,” she stressed.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, says a new NDC government will implement a Free Primary Health Care Plan to provide health for all Ghanaians.

He stressed, “this will remove cost as a barrier to healthcare and ensure health for all.”

Addressing members and supporters of NDC at Akatsi on Tuesday, August 18, as part of his four-day tour of the Volta Region, Mr. Mahama noted that despite the implementation of the NHIS, gaps still remain in the delivery of universal healthcare in the country.
