Okada became popular because it is faster than cars - Ghanaians reply Bawumia over car swap

- The New Patriotic Party has stated clearly that it would not legalise Okada business in Ghana

- Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia said the Akufo-Addo-led government will provide better options to Okada riders

- According to him, okada riders will have the opportunity have their own cars on lease

The vice president, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has stated that the issue of legalising commercialisation of motorbikes would not be possible.

He reiterated that the Akufo-Addo-led government will be able to provide better options to Okada riders to lease-to-own vehicles if they choose to, and, therefore, the government will not legalise Okada operations.

Speaking at the joint launch of a strategic collaboration between Volkswagen and BlackIvy Bawumia noted that for the automotive industry to be successful, there must be enough domestic demand for the vehicles produced.

To this end, he said okada, trotro, taxi drivers can swap their old cars and bikes for new cars

In other news, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has predicted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will win with a first-round victory in the upcoming December elections.

Akufo-Addo reported made this declaration during a working tour to the Bono Region, where he addressed people of Berekum East and Berekum West, appealing for votes.
