Court throws out NDC's suit; gives EC green light to re-open voters' register on October 1

The Accra High Court has dismissed the suit filed by the NDC challenging the decision of the Electoral Commission (EC) to re-open the voters’ register for one day on October 1, 2020.
In a report filed by Graphic.com.gh, the court said the NDC should have filed the suit on notice so that the EC could have been served.
The NDC, in its suit, said it decided to challenge the registration exercise because the Electoral Commission did not publish a 21 days’ notice of the planned exercise in the gazette in accordance with the law governing elections in Ghana.

The NDC wanted the court to grant an injunction on the EC, thereby restraining it from re-opening the register without first gazetting it.
Graphic Online, however, reports that the NDC intends to refile the suit.
The party also wanted the Court to order the EC to comply with Public Elections (Registration of Voters) Regulations, 2016 (C.I. 91) for the intended registration exercise.
The EC earlier announced that it will reopen the register for one day to allow eligible voters who could not participate in the mass registration exercise organized earlier this year due to the closure of the borders to do so on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Forster Kwame Kalinu Atigah said propaganda won't win the NDC any case in court.
The case has no merits. They should go and learn to be subjective because propaganda won't win them any case in court.
In other news, popular Kumawood actor, Agya Koo, has declared the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and its leader Nana Akufo-Addo, as the only party and leader who can move Ghana forward.
He said Akufo-Addo has all that is needed to take Ghana to the promised land.
Thus, he urged Ghanaians to vote for the party and ensure that the president retains the power to continue with the good works.
