President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo seems to be very pleased with the investment he made in the educational sector with regard to his free education policy.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results of the first batch of free SHS beneficiaries say a lot.

Akufo-Addo said the free SHS beneficiaries have justified the decision of the government to invest heavily in free quality education.

He added that all countries that have made giant strides in their social, economic, scientific, and industrial sectors did so by investing more in education.

He made this known when some of the students who excelled in the 2020 WASSCE called upon him at the Jubilee House in Accra.

Akufo-Addo said even though the students wrote the examination during the COVID-19 period, they had proven that the investment made in them was worthwhile.

In other news, the Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum, has stated that parents who feel they want to pay the fees of their wards enjoying the free SHS should feel free to do so.

Dr. Adutwum said the government would really appreciate and applaud any parent who does that.

He made this known while speaking in an interview with Starr News.

"...if you want to pay fees for your child enjoying free SHS, you go to the school and give money to the headmaster. We’ll applaud you for that,” he said.

He added that parents can visit the schools and make payments to the headmasters in the name of their wards.

He also reassured parents of the highest standards of education for their wards amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
