Banda works at University Teaching Hospital-UTH

Diamond News reports that the 53-year-old preacher does not understand why society comes up with myths about the job.

Banda, who was speaking from his office (mortuary) of 11 years at the Microbiology and Pathology Section of the University Teaching Hospital-UTH urged youths not to be choosy and take on careers.

He added that such moves will collectively help to tackle unemployment.

Banda also disclosed that he underwent turbulent situations after completing his 12th grade, from having worked as a security guard before he switched to domestic work.

Banda preaches at International Corner Stone Ministries

The International Corner Stone Ministries pastor adds that young people should demystify the perception that a mortuary attendant is shrouded in myths.

The former alcoholic said they should desist from shunning it as a lowly paid job.

During his candid interview, Banda recounts that in the early days, handling bodies in the health facility was not easy but commitment and compassion for families that lost departed beloved ones made his duties easier.

The start of COVID-19 was a challenging period for the mortuary attendant as well as he witnessed so many families lose their relatives.

Community supports his job at UTH

The preacher also denied that he is a hammer-carrying individual who strikes corpses when they come to life.

The father of three, says over the years there has been less stigma and his community has become supportive of his job at UTH.

Banda's greatest desire is to be recognised at a Labour Day Celebration for his thankless job.

Pentecost University launches new mortuary course

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh has reported in a separate story that Pentecost University has introduced a certificate programme in funeral and mortuary services.

The programme which is a new initiative is aimed at solving challenges regarding mortuary and its related services in Ghana.

Netizens have commended the university for being a problem solver with many admonishing them for coming up with a programme that will address a critical problem.
