Asamoah Gyan boasts of Real Madrid 'interest in signing him' during his Sunderland days
-Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, has said that Real Madrid wanted to sign him at a point in his career
-Madrid, he says, were part of other suitors like Liverpool and Tottenham who wanted to sign him in the January transfer window of the 2010/11 season.
-His club, Sunderland, however refused but eventually sold him to Al Ain of UAE possibly because of the huge amount they offered.

The captain of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, says Spanish giants, Real Madrid, wanted to sign him during his time at English Premier League side, Sunderland seven years ago.
Following his success at the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa, where he netted three goals to take Ghana within inches of a semi final place, Sunderland snapped him from Stade Rennes.

However, after just a solitary season in the English topflight, in which he scored 10 goals in 34 matches including an impressive goal against Chelsea, Gyan was on the move again.
This time, he went to the continent of Asia where he signed for UAE side Al Ain.
Explaining the move, which many considered as unusual he said, Sunderland were the ones who forced the move as they were enticed by Al Ain's offer.
According to him, the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and even Real Madrid had shown interest in signing him earlier that season which the Black Cats refused, so he was surprised that they accepted the Al-Ain offer.

''I felt like the club wanted to do business at that time rather than have the player. There was some interest in me the January beforehand; Liverpool, Tottenham and even talk of Real Madrid, but I was playing well and when you play well naturally clubs are interested in you - but I didn’t expect the club to let me go the way they did
''When Al Ain made the offer, Sunderland came to me and told me it was a loan deal for one season and I think the fee they were offering blew their minds considering it was only a loan deal. They were looking at the figures.
''At that time I was the lead man at the club, and they were letting me go on loan? I didn’t understand it. I was the lead striker and they were just letting me go on loan. I was just thinking it should be a permanent deal, or nothing else'', he told Rokerreport in an interview.
