List of EPL top scorers all time
The EPL season is coming close to an end, but in the time period we have witnessed some of the unbelievable, magical, heart wrenching and exquisite action from the EPL top scorers. We have witnessed the reign of Mohammed Salah breaking the Premier League top scorers record history by sealing the net 40 times this season. The beauty in the game is what makes us love football. what makes us want to watch the matches?
This got us thinking, who are the EPL top scorers of all time and where are they now? In this article, we have compiled a list of them all, matches they played, the number of goals each one of them scored and the trophies they took home.

Well the list of EPL top scorers is long with some of the players already retired and some still in their prime. But all in all the Premier League top scorers are some of the moment-defining legends who put their heart and soul in the game to show us the real meaning of talent and perfection. Although some have retired and faded away from our memory, their performance and record breaking action they brought to the pitch will forever be embedded in our hearts.

This top scorer cannot go unmentioned. They cannot be forgotten for their performance was exceptional. We have listed them together with the number of goals their scored in their football career.
1. Alan Shearer - 260 goals
He is one of my all-time favorite top scorers in EPL who hold the record of the most prolific goal scorer in the Premier League history. Alan shearer won a lot of accolades especially the Golden Boot for three consecutive years in 1995, 1996 and 1997. His career started off as an up and coming budding new player in the old First Division as a forward for Southampton. His premier league debut was when he was signed to side Blackburn Rovers.
In his stay at the team he scored 112 EPL goals. In the 1994/1995 season, he tied the EPL mark for goals in a single season after 34 thunderous strikes leading to Blackburn Rovers winning the league in the club’s history. The rest of his career was spent at Newcastle United where he scored a record of 148 goals. Throughout his career, he maintained a high level precision goal with the ability to score at any point of the pitch. He had an outstanding physique backed with aerial ability which was feared by the opponents.
2. Wayne Rooney - 208 goals
Rooney is the second Premier League top goal scorers, the England forward become popular during his stay at Manchester United where he scored 183 premier league goals making him their all-time top scorer. Throughout his 489 appearances, he is ranked as the third highest player with 103 assists. He holds the record for England Player of the Year four times in 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015.He also has 119 international caps making him the England all-time goal scorer and second most capped player behind Peter Shilton.
During his stay at Manchester United, he steered his team to win: the Champions League in 2008, English Championship five times, English FA Cup in 2016, Europa League winner in 2017, English Super Cup winner five times and the FIFA Club cup win in 2009. He also won player of the year at the Premier League during the 2009/2010 season. He shifted to his former club Everton after 13 years away and is currently holding an impressive record of 11 records. He is respected by many players and despite being advanced in age his talent is intact.
3. Andrew Cole – 187 goals
Throughout his career he has made 414 appearances. He was the winner of the Golden Boot in 1993/1994 season. He was also player of the month in 1997. He began his football career at Nottingham forest before moving to Burnley on loan and a free to Sunderland. He has played for major England clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle, Fulham, Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers. He steered his team in winning five premier league titles, two FA Cup trophies, Champions League and the League Cup.
4. Frank Lampard -177 goals
The England star holds the record for highest EPL top scorers and assists as a midfielder in the Premier League. He also holds the record of the highest scoring player in the Chelsea club. He began his football career at West Ham United and geared his team to finish fifth in the 1997/1998 season which is the club’s highest Premier League placing. But his career bloomed upon his move to Chelsea. He has made 609 appearances with 102 assists in total. He was player of the season in 2004/2005 and helped Chelsea win the Premier League championship in 2005, 2006 and 2010.
5. Thierry Henry -175 goals
The retired French forward player holds the record as all-time top scorer for Arsenal where he spent 8 years of his career. He has played for Monaco, Juventus, Barcelona and New York Red Bulls. He also made history at the club by being the first club in a century to go through an entire domestic season league unbeaten and claiming the league title in the process. He was second runners up as the PFA Player’s Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year. He also won the European Golden Boot after scoring 39 goals in all competitions.
The French man could be walking back to his former club Arsenal as he has been listed as the potential replacement for Coach Arsene Wenger who has served for 22 years and recently commented his leave from the club. It is at the Arsenal where he won two Premier League titles in 2003 and 2004, up to date the club has never won a Premier League title. He also steered the club to pick up 2 FA cups in 2002 and 2003 and 2 FA cups in 2002 and 2004. After his stay at Arsenal he was transferred to Barcelona and finally at Ney York Red Bulls where he retired.
6. Robbie Fowler -163 goals
The England striker is renowned for his devotion and love for club Liverpool where he earned his reputation and fame. He led the club Liverpool to win the FA Cup in the 2000/2001 season, two League cups in 1995 and 2001, UEFA Cup in 2000/2001 and the UEFA Cup. In 1993, he won England the UEFA European Under -18 Football Championship. However his record of most goals scored in a season was broken this season by our own African made Mohammad Salah.
He also has one individually the two times PFA Young Player of the Year Award in 1995 and 1996, UEFA Fairly Play Award in 1997, 1997 UEFA Cup Winner Top Scorer, Alan Hardaker Trophy in 2001, Premier League Player of the Month in 1995 and the North Queensland Fury Golden Boot in 2010. He scored over 30 goals for three successive seasons in the md 1990’s before he had a serious knee injury against Everton which saw him stay on the bench for some time. The star has also played for Leeds United, Manchester City and North Queensland Fury.
7. Jermain Defoe – 162 goals
The English professional player is currently at Club Bournemouth as a striker and also in the England national team. He holds the record in 2011 for the 20th player to score a century of Premier League goals. He is also the fifth highest scorer in Tottenham’s history in 2013 and also the club’s highest scorer in the European competitions. He also holds the record of most goals scored as a substitute with 22 goals.
He holds the record of Player of the Year in 2004 at Tottenham Hotspurs. He was also the Premier League of the Month in August 2009, Support Player of the Year in the 2015/2016 season and the Player of the Year at Sunderland. He also led his team Portsmouth to be runners up at the FA community shield. In his career, he has played for West Ham United, Toronto FC, Tottenham Hotspurs, Sunderland and Portsmouth.
8. Michael Owen – 150 goals
The English forward has made 326 appearances at the Premier League with 31 assists. He was the recipient of the Golden Boot twice in 1997/1998 and 1998/1999. He was also player of the season in the same year. The retired footballer has played for Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City. He helped Liverpool win the UEFA Cup, FA Cup and the Football League Cup after which he was the recipient of the Ballon d’Or. He was signed to Real Madrid for where he scored 13 La Liga goals.
He holds the record for youngest player to have scored 150 goals in the Premier League. After Real Madrid he moved to Newcastle but due to regular injuries he was ruled out of most games. He later moved to Manchester United as a free agent. He spent three years in the team and move to Stoke City. He was the one who replaced legend Robbie Fowler from Liverpool’s striking forward in 1998 and was second runners up at the PFA Player of the Year. During his contract was at one time the highest paid British footballer.
9. Less Ferdinand – 149 goals
The English footballer over his career made 351 appearances with 49 assists. The retired star is currently the football coach and Director of Football at his former club Queen Park Rangers. He began his journey playing amateur football at AEL before moving to Southall and Hayes. He was spotted by Queen Park Rangers where he signed his first contract. He has played for top football clubs including Besiktas, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspurs, West Hama United, Leicester City, Bolton Wanderers, Reading and Watford.
He was crowned PFA Player of the Year in the 1995/1996 season. He also led his team to win the Premier League PFA team of the Year. He is also the score of the 10,000th Premier League goal on 15th December for Tottenham Hotspurs against side Fulham. He also played for the England national team where he capped 17 times scoring five goals and was part of the Euro 96 and 1998 FIFAWorld Cup squad.
10. Teddy Sheringham -147 goals
The English footballer turned manager was a prolific striker especially in the English national team where he made 51 appearances and scored 11 goals. He has made 418 appearances in the Premier League with 76 assists. He was the recipient of the Golden Boot in 1992/93 season. He also lead his team to win the Premier League championship for three consecutive years from 1999-2001. He was also the player of the month in October 2000 and August 2003. He is also the 19th highest appearance maker in the League.
In his career, he has played for Millwall, Aldershot, Djugrardens, Nottinham Forest, Tottenham Hotspurs, Manchester United, West Ham United and Colchester United. In 2001, he was named the PFA Player of the Year Award plus the FWA Footballer of the Year. He is well remembered at Old Trafford especially when he scored the equalizer and an assist to help Manchester Unted beat Bayern Munich for the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final. He also scored the first Premier League goal for Portsmouth. He was the older outfielder player in the Premier League.

11. Robin Van Persie -144 goals
The Dutch footballer became popular to the world especially after he was signed to Arsenal. He has made 102 appearances for his national team Netherlands where he scored 50 goals. He secured the FA Cup for Arsenal in 2004 and the FA Community shield in the same year. He was runner up at the FIFA World Cup 2010 and took third place at the FIFA World Cup 2014. He holds record of Dutch Football Player of the Year in 2001/02, KNVB Best Young Player, BBC Goal of the Month, Premier League Golden Boot, PFA Player of the Year.
His move was Arsenal to Manchester United was met with altercations especially with the then coach Van Gaal who benched him most of the games. On 2015, he moved to Club Fenerbahce on a three year deal. After the contract expired, he agreed to return to Feyenoord where his goal put the club into the 2017/18KNVB Cup Final. He is best remembered for his thunderous strikes from the middle of the pitch.

12. Sergio Aguero -143 goals
Well talking about the current season, Manchester City were declared winners even though the league hadn’t come to an end. The Argentinian striker holds the record for the highest non-European scorer in the history of the Premier League. He is the recipient of the South American Team of the Year 2005, FIFA Young Player f the Year in 2007, FIFA U-20 World Cup Golden Ball in 2007, La Liga Ibero-American Player of the Year2008, Premier League Golden Boot in 2014/15, Manchester City Goal of the Season and Player of the Year.
During his stay at Atletico Madrid, he led the team to win the UEFA Europa League in the 2009/10 season, UEFA Super Cup in 2010. But he won Manchester City many awards including Premier League 2011/12, 2013/14 and 2017/18. He also steered the team in winning three times the Football EFL Cup in 2013/14, 2015/16 and 2017/18, and the FA Community Shield in 2012.
He has made 84 appearances in the Argentina national team scoring 36 goals. He will also be a key instrument in the 2018 World Cup campaign alongside La Liga legend Lionel Messi. His career is still young and judging by the goals he is sure to surpass some of the other legends and become the EPL top scorers all time.
