Nyantakyi's second wife will be very unhappy over his lifetime FIFA ban

Nyantakyi's second wife will be very unhappy over his lifetime FIFA ban

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA ), has banned Kwesi Nyantakyi for life.

The embattled former GFA President has also been fined CHF500,000, equivalent to $497,000, for several breaches of Code and Ethics of FIFA.

This is contained in a statement released by FIFA which is circulating on social media as sighted by YEN.com.gh.

According to the statement dated October 30, 2018, Nyantakyi's ban "comes into force immediately".

It revealed that the former GFA Boss would not take part in any football-related activities at both the national and international level.

"The adjudicatory chamber found Mr. Nyantakyi guilty of having violated art. 19 (Conflict of interests), art.21 (bribery and corruption) and art. 22 (commission) of FIFA Code o Ethics, the 2012 edition." "As a consequence, Mr. Nyantakyi is banned for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports and any other) at both national and international level. Additionally, a fine of CHF 500,000 has been imposed on Mr. Nyantakyi," part of the statement read.

Nyantakyi's ban follows the investigative piece by Ghanaian and worldwide acclaimed journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, dubbed 'Number 12'.

The investigative piece led to the arrest of Nyantakyi who was found to have allegedly used the name of President Nana Akufo-Addo inappropriately during a meeting with some football investors.

In the video, Nyantakyi was seen soliciting a bribe from the investors with the claim of giving the amount to President Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Subsequently, Nyantakyi handed himself to the police and after hours of interrogation, he was granted bail.

But while a lot of attention has been devoted to the substantive case, little has been said on the possible effects it will have on Nyantakyi's family especially his second wife whom he married about 15 months ago.

Being a Muslim, Nyantakyi took a second wife in a private ceremony sometime in July 2017.

The lady is Mariama Sannie, a 23-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Having married for a little over one year, one would have expected that Mariama will be in a marital bliss but it seems she must cut that bliss and brace herself up for some tough times ahead.

Because apart from the ban and the reputational damage, Nyantakyi faces a possible jail term. Even though the Attorney General has stated that the state lacks enough evidence to prosecute Nyantakyi, the case ha not entirely been quashed.

Within three months after her first wedding anniversary, Mariama should be thinking about something happier and not a lifetime ban and huge fines or even a possible jail term for her husband.
