The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has finally had its say in the ongoing interrogation of Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The GFA boss became the subject of discussion across the country when President Akufo-Addo ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to apprehend and interrogate him on allegations of defrauding by false pretence.

The CAF Vice President is reported to have used the names of the President, Vice President and some top government appointees to negotiate deals with foreign investors.

On Wednesday, Nyantakyi arrived at the Kotoka International Airport and was immediately escorted to the CID Headquarters by a contingent of Policemen.

The GFA capo was later escorted to his private residence where a search was conducted in a bid to find more evidence.

The troubles of Nyantakyi has led to many wondering what would become of his reputation at FIFA, especially as he is a Council Member of world football’s governing body.

Such concerns, though, have now been put to bed following an enquiry by ace journalist Gary Al-Smith.

In an email response to the Joy FM journalist, FIFA said it is closely monitoring the issue, but refused to add further to that.

FIFA is aware of the issue. Our monitoring team are closely following this matter and seeking additional information. For the moment, we cannot comment further,” a response from FIFA read.

It remains to be seen what transpires with regards to the allegations levelled against Nyantakyi, but the FA boss has been granted bail in the meantime.
