France and Denmark draw in dull final group game at Russia 2018

- It was a record-equaling 79th game in charge for France coach Didier Deschamps

- Both teams have advanced to the next stage of the World Cup

The World Cup just posted its first 0-0 in the match between Denmark and France. The results mean that both sides will be playing in the second round of the World Cup.

France however go into the Round of 16 having topped Group C. Didier Deschamps men did not need to do much as a changed Les Bleues side faced little challenge from Denmark.

France had already qualified and Denmark needed a point to be certain. But a 2-0 win for eliminated Peru against Australia sent the Danes through.

Didier Deschamps was marking his 79th game in charge of the team. This record is level with Raymond Domenech's. Paul Pogba and Hugo Lloris and were kept on the bench with Kylian Mbappe coming on later.

Deschamps' six changes contributed to a lack of cohesion that prevented France from ending the group stage with maximum points for the first time since they won the tournament in 1998. Griezmann struggled to link up front with partner Giroud throughout the game.

Depending on what happens in the game between Nigeria and Argentina, France could be meeting the Messi-led side. Denmark on the hand look likely to play Croatia.
