Heartening photos of young Mbappe idolising Ronaldo

- Kylian Mbappe has been looking up to Cristiano Ronaldo through his boyhood years

- The French star grew up with his room plastered with Ronaldo's images

- On Saturday, June 30, he inspired France to a 4-3 victory over Argentina in the World Cup

Photos of young Kylian Mbappe in his bedroom in the Parisian suburb of Bondy plastered with dozens of Cristiano Ronaldo's pictures have surfaced online.

The photos evidenced Mbappe's huge obsession with Real Madrid, , and the Portuguese star in particular.

The jubilant 19-year old can be seen posing in front of about two-dozen photographs of the Portuguese striker in action for Real Madrid.

There are also photos of the French star with his hero, as well as of him posing with his AS Monaco jersey shortly after signing for the French side in 2013.

In an exclusive interview with Spanish publication MARCA in 2017, Mbappe spoke candidly how influential Ronaldo was in his career as a youngster but it soon 'ended'.

"He is a hero from my childhood and it was amazing to meet him when I visited Valdebebas," he said.
"I admired him when I was younger, but that ended. Now I go to the Bernabeu to play and to win.
"From someone who has won five Ballons d'Or you can learn a lot. He's a great player," he added.

And five years later, Mbappe is close to achieving his dream of becoming one of, if not the, most phenomenal footballer in the world.

On Saturday June, 30, the PSG ace put in a masterclass performance to dump Lionel Messi's Argentina from the 2018 World Cup in the round of 16.

Mbappe netted a brace during the tie as France hammered the South American nation 4-3 to seal a spot in the quarter-finals.

Apart from the two goals, the forward recorded a ridiculous speed of 38km/h to smash Ronaldo's record of being the fastest player at the tournament so far.

His all-round fearsome performance also saw him become the first teenager to hit a World Cup double since Pele in 1958 for Brazil.

After helping his national side reach the last eight of the global tournament, Mbappe now faces a daunting task of helping France beat Uruguay in the World Cup quarter-final.
