Tottenham striker Harry Kane voted 2018 England player of the year

- England have named Tottenham striker Harry Kane their best player for 2018

- The 25-year-old forward was superb at last year's FIFA World Cup scoring six goals

- He has also scored 14 goals this season for Spurs in the Premier League

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been voted as the 2018 England men's player of the year following his superb performances for his country and his Premier League side.

This will be the second time that the England captain will be honored by the Three Lions for his performances.

The 25-year-old led England to a first FIFA World Cup semi-final in 28 years becoming only the second Englishman to claim the golden boot with six goals.

He also also scored the decisive goal to send England to the inaugural UEFA Nations League finals this summer scoring eight goals in total last year.

"To be voted England's best player for the second successive year is something I'm immensely proud of.

“After such a monumental year, this award has particular significance as it’s always an honor to be recognized by the people that count the most – the fans.

“However, it took a collective effort from my England team-mates, Gareth Southgate and his staff to achieve such a positive 2018 and we were backed by fantastic support both from the stands and back at home along the way.

“We don’t want 2018 to be our only high point so here’s to continued progression with Euro 2020 qualifying and the UEFA Nations League finals in 2019.” Harry Kane explained.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane has scored 14 goals this season for Tottenham in the Premier League as the club currently occupy third position on the standings with 48 points after 22 games.

Earlier, had reported how Tottenham star Harry Kane suffered a worrying injury during their 0-1 defeat by Manchester United last Sunday at Wembley.

The Three Lion forward collided with Man United’s Phil Jones in the closing moments of the game and found it tough walking at the blast of the final whistle.
