Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is one of the best players in the world considering the titles he has won with his club since he started his professional career.

Lionel Messi has won many awards in his career including five Ballon d'Or and even recently, the Argentina international was decorated as the best player by world football governing body.

Messi has now added another feather to his wings as he is now the leading scorer from outside the penalty box with 69 goals.

According to the report on Sportbible, stats show that no player in top five European Leagues has scored more goals outside the box than Messi since the 2007/08 season.

And out of the 69 goals Lionel Messi has scored outside the penalty box, 48 of those goals came from free kicks.

Messi's greatest rival in football Cristiano Ronaldo is the second on the standings scoring 54 goals.
