Deontay Wilder to sack coach who threw in towel in Fury loss

- Deontay Wilder is set to sack his coach who threw in the towel during his defeat to Tyson Fury

- The American was totally outboxed from the first bell till seventh round where the bout was settled via TKO

- Wilder blamed the decision of coach Mark Breland to throw the towel and there are indications they may part ways

More rancour continues to hit Deontay Wilder's camp after his stunning historical defeat to Tyson Fury in Las Vega, with the former WBC titleholder set to sack the coach who threw in the towel

Wilder's reign as heavyweight king was brought to a disappointing end on Sunday, February 23, at the iconic MGM Grand Garden Arena with a seventh-round stoppage.

The Bronze Bomber failed to replicate his long-established dominance, losing the control of the game from the first bell to the Brit and it took the intervention of his coaching crew to save him from Fury's brutality.

Wilder suffered an eardrum burst and lip cut and with the bout taking a more dangerous turn on the 34-year-old pugilist, and his corner threw in the towel to hand Fury a victory via KTO.

Reacting to the decision, Wilder blamed his coach, saying he was coming 'out oh his shield' when the decision was taken.

"I'd rather die in the ring than have the towel thrown in. I'm a warrior," the former WBC champion, who was reportedly hospitalised boasted.

It has now been confirmed that the American would part ways with the coach who made the towel throwing decision Mark Breland.

Breland 's decision to save Wilder, who looked frail and dripping in blood, was heavily praised but it seemed the defeated boxer would not take the decision lightly as he would rather change his coaching crew.

"I am upset with Mark for the simple fact that we’ve talked about this many times and it’s not emotional,” Wilder said after the fight.

"So I told my team to never, ever, no matter what it may look like, to never throw the towel in with me because I’m a special kind.

"I understand he was looking out for me and trying to do what he felt was right, but this is my life and my career and he has to accept my wishes."

Wilder also blamed the referee for giving Tyson Fury an undue advantage to hit him at the back despite warning them not to do so as it amounted to disqualification.
