Today in sports history: Kwesi Nyantakyi appointed first Vice President of CAF

- On May 8, 2017, Kwesi Nyantakyi was appointed as the 1st vice president of CAF

- His new role would only last for a year as the top official was captured in a corruption scandal the next year

- It would be recalled that Anas Aremeyaw Anas released Number 12, an undercover work that captured Kwesi Nyantakyi in alleged acts of bribery

Exactly three years ago, on May 8, 2017, the former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, was appointed the 1st Vice President of the Confederation of African Football.

As it would be recalled, Nyantakyi's nomination for the post was validated by the CAF Executive Committee during its first meeting under the reign of the CAF president by the name Ahmad Ahmad in Manama, Bahrain.

The appointment made Kwesi Nyantakyi the second most powerful person in African football and the first Ghanaian Vice President of the African football governing body, CAF.

Sadly, the promotion of the Ghana Football Association president to the position of the deputy Confederation of African football would only last for a year.

In July 2018, the popular Ghanaian undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, released Number-12, a footage capturing many top football officials in corruption scandals and Nyantakyi was involved.

Following the scandal, both the Ghana Football Association and the Confederation of African Football suspended their contracts with the top official and he was never reinstated.

In a post sighted by on the Facebook page of Enkasa GH, pictures of Emmanuel Armah were shared along with the question of whether the country would wait until the unfortunate happens to him before showering praises.

The call seems to be laudable as the popular veteran actor Emmanuel Armah has been sick since 2017 and out of the scenes completely.
