Ghana FA cancels leagues over COVID-19
- The GFA has officially cancelled the 2019/20 football league season
- The decision was made after the Executive Council (EXCO) meeting
- CAF has also moved the biennial tournament to January 2022, while cancelling the African Women's Cup of Nations

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made the decision to cancel the 2019/20 football season following a marathon meeting on 30 June at the GFA Secretariat in Accra.
Accordingly, all records associated with the season have been removed, but fines accrued must still be honoured by clubs.
There shall also be no demotion and promotion.

The league season has been on suspension since 16 March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The GFA has been engaging government, CAF, and FIFA on the way forward for the season. Following this, the executive council has finally made a decision to cancel the season after considering all key factors.
The executive council also decided that per the relevant provisions of the CAF inter-club football Regulations, Asante Kotoko SC and AshGold SC will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup respectively.
The executive council will meet on 9 July to discuss all issues relating to the next football season and congress.

The GFA said it will continue its engagement with all sponsors and all stakeholders following the cancellation of the season.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a list of the world's richest active footballers has emerged and Leicester City's, Faiq Bolkiah, is way ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, citing Blog Finance FR, neither the Argentine captain nor his Portuguese rival are the richest active footballer.
Faiq, who is a nephew to Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, is yet to feature for the Foxes at the senior level but he is worth a staggering $20bn.
