  • Arsene Wenger has claimed Man United's season "is not dead" despite picking just one win from their last five EPL fixtures
  • The Red Devils suffered a damaging 5-0 defeat against Liverpool, a result that not only left Solskjaer under more pressure - but also dealt them a blow on their title chances
  • However, Wenger contends United can turn around the tide and get their campaign back on track and even win the league
  • Ole's men find themselves sitting seventh on the Premier League standings with 14 points from nine rounds of matches

Arsene Wenger believes all is not lost for Man United despite their weekend thrashing by Liverpool at Old Trafford.

A Mohamed Salah hat trick and a goal each from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota condemned United to a comprehensive 5-0 defeat at home.

The demoralizing loss saw the Red Devils drop to seventh on the log with 14 points, eight off league leaders Chelsea who have 22 after nine rounds of matches.

However, Wenger contends the Manchester club can still get their campaign back on track and recover from what is threatening to become a disastrous campaign for them.

"You have to try to create hope. Manchester City won the title last year, they were 11 points behind at one stage and they were 10th in the league in December," Wenger said on beIN SPORTS.
"So if they rectify it, they are still not out of it completely. Also, in the Champions League, they can still qualify. So their season is not dead but if they continue like that, it will be quickly," he added.

The legendary Frenchman noted United can draw inspiration from Man City's turnaround last season for inspiration.

However, Wenger was quick to admit Liverpool's defeat does leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in a precarious position and will have to do a lot more to turn around the tide.

"At the moment Manchester United are in-between pressing and dropping off and that is a little bit the worse situation for a team," he noted.

Fergie's reaction to Man United defeat

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance at Old Trafford as Man United suffered a 5-0 defeat in the hands of Liverpool.

The legendary Scottish boss cut a dejected face as he watched United's loss in disbelief.

Fergie was spotted shaking his head moments after the first half before being filmed sighing in disbelief when Liverpool scored the fifth goal.
