Solskjaer has found himself on the receiving end in recent weeks after leading United to a string of poor results.

According to reports, the Norwegian's future at Old Trafford is now hanging on a thread, amid suggestions, the Red Devils have already begun a hunt for his replacement.

The Sun claims United chiefs have since drawn up a four-man shortlist of experienced managers who could potentially replace the under-fire Solskjaer.

It is believed Zidane is among those who have been earmarked for the Old Trafford job as pressure mounts on Solskjaer to quit.

However, according to ESPN, the Frenchman has no plan of taking over the reins at the Theatre of Dreams.

This is despite the former France international currently having no job after quitting Real Madrid.

The World Cup winner led Los Blancos in two separate stints, with his last coming at an end in the summer.

In his first, Zidane masterminded Madrid's three successive Champions League triumphs before as well as a La Liga title in 2017.

However, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo revealed the 1998 Ballon d'Or winner is not looking to return to management soon as he is looking to recharge his batteries.

The publication added the only two jobs that would excite Zidane are the French national role or at PSG.

The development will serve as a major blow to Man United who are believed to be keen on services.

Be that as it may, United will not fall short of options, with reports suggesting Antonio Conte and Brendan Rodgers are on the shortlist.

Ole speaks on Liverpool humiliation

Earlier, it was reported Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted at continuing as Man United boss despite growing pressure on him to quit.

The Norwegian suggested he is still the right man to steer the Red Devils back to winning ways but admitted it is not going to be rosy.

"I have come too far, we have come too far as a group. We are too close to give up now," Solskjaer said.
"It is going to be a difficult one. The players will be low but there’s loads of characters there. We know we are rock bottom, we can’t feel any worse than this. Let’s see where we take it," he added.
