  • Wayne Ronney has aimed a dig at Manchester United stars following their poor show in their loss to Liverpool
  • The Red Devils were hammered 5-0 by the Reds at Old Trafford on Sunday, a performance Rooney branded as ‘unacceptable’
  • The former United forward lamented that the current players in the squad are not ready to defend or fight for the club

A former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has lambasted the Red Devils for their shocking 5-0 loss to Liverpool in a Premier league clash over the weekend, MEN reports.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were ruthless against the hosts, with Mohamed Salah also getting a hat-trick at the Old Trafford - a night that will haunt Old Trafford fans for life.

Man Utd have been under heavy criticism since that day, with many calling for the sacking of their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rooney has now joined ex-teammates Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand in assessing the club performance as they all admitted it was unacceptable.

It was their worst result against their bitter rivals since 1925 and when asked about his opinion about the game, Rooney said via Mirror:

"There is a big responsibility on those players. They are world-class players, international players and a club like United need more.
"Those players need to be hurt, need to feel when you lose games how much it hurts you.
"I’m seeing too many players not willing to run back, not willing to defend and not willing to put everything on the line for that club and that’s not acceptable."

Rooney added:

"Are you telling me that’s the manager’s fault or the players’ fault? I don’t know."

Solskjaer spotted in Man Utd training

Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was caught on camera preparing his team for the all-important fixture against Tottenham that could determine his future at Man United.

The Norwegian managerial has come under intense criticisms for his team's loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford in the past weekend.

There have been reports that the 48-year-old has been given one more chance to stay at the club if only he goes past Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

It is understood that the Red Devils hierarchy do not want Solskjaer sacked as manager after serving the club as a player where he won many trophies under Alex Ferguson.

Liverpool advance to EFL quarterfinal

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Liverpool remain unbeaten in all competitions so far this campaign after beating Preston North End 2-0 in their EFL Cup rounds of 16 encounter at the Deepdale Stadium on October 27.

Two second half goals from Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi helped the Reds claim the much-needed win after regulation period.

The Merseyside outfit have now gone 15 games this campaign without losing a single game as they are favourites to win several titles this season.
