Who is Kwesi Arthur?

Kwesi Arthur is a Ghanaian rapper, singer and songwriter who hails from Tema in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. He rose to fame in 2017 with his hit single "Grind Day", which earned him a nomination for Best International Act at the 2018 BET Awards. He is also the founder of Ground Up Chale, a social media movement for emerging artists in West Africa.

Career Timeline

Kwesi Arthur started writing raps after listening to Drake's debut album, Thank Me Later, in 2010. After graduation from high school, he worked as a security guard and learned music production at a local studio in Tema.

In 2016, he met the management of Ground Up Chale and recorded his first EP, Live from Nkrumah Krom, which featured the song "Grind Day". It quickly became a hit and garnered widespread recognition.

In 2018, he gained further prominence with the release of his EP titled "Live from Nkrumah Krom," which received critical acclaim and solidified his position as a rising star in Ghanaian music.

In 2019, he became the second Ghanaian rapper to be nominated for BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher after Sarkodie. He also won the Best Collaboration of the Year at the 3 Music Awards for his song "Nobody" with Mr Eazi.
