Ghana’s army ranked 106th strongest in world

Ghana’s military has been ranked as the 106th strongest globally on a ranking of 138 countries.

Ghana moved up two places in the latest ranking.

The data was in the Global Firepower ranking 2020. The ranking used 50 factors to determine a country’s power index score.

Some of the factors considered include; geography, military might and financials to logistical capability.

The Global FirePower (GFP) data also revealed that Ghana’s total population of over 28 million has about 15, 500 active personnel. The country’s airpower strength of 24 (comprising 13 helicopters, 6 aircraft trainers and two special-mission aircraft).

Ghana’s army also operates a defence budget of $120 million.

The ranking which relies heavily on values from the CIA World Factbook claims that Ghana has 150 armoured vehicles, 20 naval vessels and operates a defence budget of $710 million.

Meanwhile, in Africa, the strongest military was Egypt (9th) followed by Algeria (28th), South Africa (31st), Nigeria (44), Morocco (56), Angola (57), and Ethiopia (59).

The strongest military globally went to the United States, followed by Russia and then China is 3rd.

India placed fourth followed by Japan, and South Korea with France coming seventh and the United Kingdom eighth.
