Bayern Munich vs Chelsea ended 4-1 in favour of the Bavarians and qualified into the quarter finals with 7-1 aggregate scoreline.

Robert Lewandowski grabbed a brace in the match as Ivan Perisic and Corentin Tolisso also got on the scoresheet. Tammy Abraham scored Chelsea's only as they bowed out of the tournament.

Bayern got off and running in the opening ten minutes as Lewandowski beat the offside trap and was brought down in the box by Willy Caballero who was yellow carded.

The Polish striker drilled in his shot into Caballero's left-hand corner to make it 1-0 and made it his 12th of the campaign.

Lewandowski then turned provider for Perisic who was left unmarked in the box as he picked his spot to double the lead after 24 minutes. 2-0 it was to Bayern.

Chelsea thought they had pulled one back in the 28th after Callum Hudson-Odoi drove in a brilliant curler which completely beat Manuel Neuer in goal but was ruled out by the VAR.

But the Blues got themselves back into the after Neuer's poor punch fell kindly to Abraham who scored into an empty net to make it 2-1.

The second half was more of end-to-end stuff as both sides were evenly matched in their exchanges.

Mason Mount broke loose from the left having the keeper to beat but his resulting effort did not trouble Neuer.

Former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho who came in for Perisic went close after his trademark shot scratched the outside of the net.

But in the 76th minute, another substitute Tolisso made it 3-1 after heading home a lovely cross from Lewandowski.

Bayern were not done yet as Lewandowski crowned his man-of-the-match performance with another goal as he made it 4-1 and took his Champions League tally to 13.

The Bundesliga champions made it through into the last eight with ease after creating the better chances in the game.

Bayern will now play Barcelona in the quarter finals who defeat Napoli by 3-1 and 5-2 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Man City vs Real Madrid saw the Citizens cruised into the last eight of the Champions League following a 2-1 win.

Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus scored in each half of the match as Karim Benzema's equalizer was not enough for Los Merengues.

Raphael Varane committed a dreadful error as Gabriel Jesus stole the ball and provided the pass for the arriving Sterling who poked the ball home to make it 1-0 in the ninth minute.
