Ghanaian doctor performs surgery to remove Gorilla glue from Black woman's hair

Prominent Ghanaian-American plastic surgeon, Dr Michael Obeng, has successfully removed the Gorilla Glue Spray used by a Louisiana woman to hold her hair down after she ran out of hairspray.

Tessica Brown, 40, gained internet attention after posting about her ordeal on social media, revealing she had not been able to move her hair for about a month after applying the Gorilla glue.

She flew to the Beverly Hills office of Dr Obeng on Wednesday for the procedure to remove the permanent glue.

After several attempts to remove the glue out by herself and a trip to the emergency room, her viral video prompted Dr Obeng who offered to help remove the permanent bonding adhesive.

''The surgery went well. Tessica is doing well. She is awake and the hair crew is doing her hair,'' Obeng said Wednesday, adding that ''It’s unmatted. It's untangled.''

The procedure normally costs more than $12,000 (GHC69,543.44) but was done for free.

Brown is recovering after Dr Brown successfully removed the Gorilla Glue Spray adhesive.

YEN.com.gh previously reported that Dr Michael Obeng had offered to help a Louisiana woman who used Gorilla Glue, a permanent bonding adhesive to hold down her hair.

Tessica Brown went viral on social media after she posted videos on Tik Tok on February 3 expressing regret for using the permanent glue on her hair after she ran out of hairspray.

In other news, a young female event planner was overcome with emotions as her better half proposed marriage at a venue she was made to believe she was setting up for a client.
