Dr Allison Adwoa Okru: Ghanaian lady graduates from Georgetown University School of Medicine

There’s no passing week or month that one doesn’t hear about Ghanaian excellence across the world. Dr Allison Adwoa Okru typifies girl power and Ghanaian excellence.

She has become the latest Ghanaian woman to graduate from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in the United States of America.

After years of hard work, she finally completed her degree at the prestigious, internationally renowned research university.

Dr Okru is flying the flag of Ghana high across Africa and the world.

Commenting about her highly laudable academic milestone, Dr Okru told the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation (GPSF) of North America that her journey was eventful.

She said:

“I’m officially Allison O. Taylor MD, MS and what a journey it’s been,”

Just as many graduating students who have been affected by the current state of the world, Dr Okru had hoped for a much better graduation.

She added:

“Like the rest of my 2020 colleagues, I’d always envisioned match day and graduation playing out differently, but these past few months have been a constant reminder that we make plans, but God is in control.”

Dr Okru is headed to Duke University Medical Center located in North Carolina for her internal medicine residency. It is one of the best hospitals in the United States of America.

In another story, technology giant, IBM Corporation, has named Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh as the new regional head for their North, East, and West Africa divisions.

Kyerematen-Jimoh will be responsible for IBM operations in over 40 countries in Africa, including Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, Ghana, and Tunisia.

Until her appointment, Kyerematen-Jimoh was the chief of staff to the senior vice president in charge of global markets and sales in IBM’s corporate headquarters in New York.
