Ex-Corporal Matthew Adabuga, a former bodyguard of Former President Jerry John Rawlings, has cast doubts about Rawlings’ innocence with regard to the death of three judges and a military officer in 1982.
According to a report by MyNewsGH.com, Adabuga stated that Rawlings gave the order for the murders for both soldiers and civilians who were buried in mass graves at Achimota Forest and the Airport runaway.
Adabuga was speaking on Andy D TV following the launch of his book, “Rawlings, Murder and Lies.”

He went on to say that Rawlings created other mass graves at another place near the airport called Gaddafi camp, where several soldiers attached to the Military Intelligence were killed by the express orders of ‘Chairman Rawlings.’
Adabuga, who is considered one of the main architects of the December 1981 coup, also repeated his allegation that, among others Rawlings popped champagne to celebrate the murder of the 3 judges and a soldier, when Amartey Kwei came to inform him.
Adabuga further revealed that he appeared before the National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) to face Rawlings “man-to-man,” but Rawlings refused to meet him, asking for separate testimonies.
He also claimed that Konadu Rawlings is not clean too, as she expressly ordered the murder of one Anto Mess, because he knew too much after guarding her for some time.
He expressed regret about what happened, and said the NRC did not serve justice, as he himself, just like Rawlings, don’t deserve to be alive.
