NDC presidential aspirant, John Dramani Mahama, has sent a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party( NPP) over the violent act exhibited on Thursday, January 31, 2019 during the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency by-election.
According the former president, the NPP must be ashamed of themselves for deploying violent tactics during the by-election.
He opined that if this continues in the 2020 general elections, the NDC would be forced to respond with violence as well.
“We are not going to joke in 2020 and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot for boot,” he said.
John Mahama gave the warning from the Adaklu Constituency where he met with NDC supporters and delegates as part of his campaign tour of the Volta Region.
Mahama’s comments come following the violence and gunshots that marred the Ayawaso by-election in Accra.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate has been declared winner of the by-elections held in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon.
She obtained over 60% of the total valid votes cast in the polls boycotted by the opposition National Democratic Congress.
