IGP appoints commanders for 6 new regions

There’s been a shakeup in the hierarchy of the Ghana Police Service, with the Inspector General of Police appointing commanders for the newly created regions.

The IGP, David Asante-Apeatu, has appointed commanders for the Bono East, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, Oti and Western North regions.

The appointments were confirmed through a statement from the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwadwo Boapea Otchere, has been moved to the Western North Region as the Commander.

DCOP Emmanuel Djan Kyere, currently the Second in Command in the Eastern Region, would also head the Bono East Region.

DCOP Enoch Adutwum Bediako, who served as Second in Command of the Central Region, is now the Regional Commander for the Savannah Region.

Meanwhile, the Second in Command in the Greater Accra Region, DCOP Kwaku Boadu Peprah, is now the Regional Commander for the Ahafo Region.

DCOP Albert Nang Baa Denkaabe is also now the Regional Commander of the North East Region.

The Oti Region has as its Regional Commander DCOP Osei Asibey Ahenkan, who was the Deputy Director General, MTTD, with DCOP Francis Aboagye Nyarko, Director General PSO, moving to the Upper West Region as the Regional Commander.

DCOP Fredrick Adu Anim is now the Regional Commander for Greater Accra, having previously served as the Second in Command (2i/c) of the Ashanti Region.

There were also movements in other departments of the Police Service across the country.

This, the IGP explained, has become necessary in order to fill the vacant positions created as a result of the new regions.
