Trotro mate and friend burnt to death while asleep in a bus

A bus conductor (driver‘s mate) and his friend have been sadly burnt to death while asleep in a bus that caught fire.

According to a report by Accra-based Joy FM, the unfortunate incident happened on Friday, June 28 dawn at Odorkor in Accra.

The deceased mate has since been identified as 26-year-old Kwabena Tongo, but his friend who also died in the fire is yet to be identified.

Eyewitnesses say the tragedy happened at about 12:40am when they realized smoke was coming from a nearby Mazda mini-bus.

The bus, with registration number GX 3119 -13, soon caught fire, prompting onlookers to call in fire fighters to handle the situation.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived to put off the fire which had already ravaged the car.

However, it was later realised that there were two burnt bodies in the car after the fire had been quenched.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the driver’s mate and his unidentified friend have since been deposited at a mortuary in  Accra.
