The award scheme, organised by RAD Communications with support from the Ministry of Communications, aimed to acknowledge the efforts of Ghanaian communications companies and reward the most outstanding ones.

The award comes as YEN.com.gh celebrates four years of operating in the country and providing the public with news that matter to Ghanaians, including on education, health, politics, entertainment, human interest, science & technology, international news and sports.

In four years, YEN has grown to become the second-biggest news website in Ghana. The company has the most engaged Facebook page among media houses in Ghana and has thriving Twitter, Instagram and YouTube platforms. YEN.com.gh's Andriod mobile app is also the most popular news app in Ghana with over 700,000 downloads.

In a reaction, YEN's Editor-in-Chief, Samuel Obour, said the award represented "a momentous victory and vindication for our readers, who have supported and stood by us from day one".

"We owe everything to our highy esteemed readers. They are 100% responsible for the growth YEN has achieved in the last four years. In respect of this particular award, they voted massively, at significant financial cost, to bring this incredible win home. We are indebted to them."

Obour pledged that YEN would not relent after winning the award, but would work harder to provide readers with the most compelling content in a very timely fashion.

He said the company would continue to apply technology and cutting-edge solutions to its news delivery efforts in order to serve readers better and stay ahead of the competition.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh's readers have been sending their congratulations since the news of the win emerged online.
