Bill Gates’ Ex-wife Melinda Becomes a Billionaire After Divorce From Husband, She Now Owns New Juicy Shares
- Melinda is now worth billions in US dollars after her divorce from Bill Gates, a man she was married to for 27 years
- Bill transferred some of his holdings to her which are all worth about $5 billion
- While it is unclear if she will be getting more, one thing is true; the woman is now a whole lot richer
Following their divorce, Bill Gates and his wife are already sharing their fortune, and Melinda’s wealth in the process has shot up, making her a billionaire.
Forbes reports that the Microsoft founder’s ex-wife got a transfer of $1.8 billion (N684,900,000,000) in Cascade Investment on Monday, May 3, on the same day they made their divorce public to the media.
With the wealth allocation, the former wife of the tech giant is now richer as Gates’ fortune takes a mild hit.
It should be noted that despite the fall in his wealth, Bill is still the world’s fourth-richest person with a net worth of $128.6 billion as of the time of writing this report.
Aside from the whopping Cascade Investment fund, Melinda also got 2.94 million shares from the Canadian AutoNation and another 14.1 million from Canadian national Railway Co which are both worth $309 million and $1.5 billion.
Cascade Investment was used by Bill as a management portfolio for his money and the company is based in Kirkland Washington, Money Control reports.
Another thing worth noting is that the Microsoft founder may have transferred some other assets to Melinda, details of which have not been disclosed to the public yet.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that after the couple's split, social media users had a lot to say with many making jokes about it.

"Only religion forces people to stay in a marriage. People grow. People, as years go by, change. People may just get sick of the same O same O. It doesn’t mean there’s no longer love n affection it’s just maybe not the love and affection felt after 27 yrs."

"This marriage stuff is really not easy even these two with all what they've achieved still split. I guess it just means they are humans just like us after all."
