The news comes several weeks after it was reported that Ellen lost exactly one million viewers despite apologising for the claims.
A source close to the host who doubles as a comedienne told Daily Mail Ellen was expected to make the announcement public on Wednesday, May 12.
According to the source, Ellen has had enough and told her team that she was done.
"She has promised one more season after this one and will exit at the end of the 2021/2022 season - the nineteenth season of the show.' the source said.
"The ratings have tanked and have been truly appalling this year and Ellen knows her time is up," added the source.
The source further noted ratings had tanked by 40% in New York City and Chicago and that Ellen had lost 59% of her viewers in Los Angeles.
She has also lost 32% of her Philadelphia audience and 50% of her San Francisco audience.
Ellen's life appears to be entering a new chapter, as she recently sold her Los Angeles mansion.
Her most recent season premiered in September 2020, and she has steadily lost viewers since then.
The drop in viewership comes after the premiere of the 18th season received the highest ratings for an "Ellen" premiere in four years.
After the show and its host were accused of misconduct and producing a "toxic environment," several viewers tuned in to see the 63-year-old host apologize to her workers.
In her opening monologue, the Finding Nemo star addressed the string of allegations levelled at her by former and current employees.
She also claimed that they had made the necessary changes and were now starting a new chapter.
