The death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the founder of Kantanka Automobile and the Kristo Asafo Mission, has sparked several conversations about his age.

The family of the late industrialist, who died on September 11, 2025, is seeking to bring a closure to the debate.

In a statement released via the family's official media outlet, Kantanka TV, the family entreated Ghanaians to disregard any report about Kantanka's age that has not been confirmed.

The statement also shed light on the actual date of birth for Kantanka, which is August 26, 1912.

Per the account, it means the late patriarch marked his 113th birthday about two weeks before his death.

"26th August, 1912 Is The Official Birthdate Of The Star Of Africa, Emeritus Prof. Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka. Kindly Disregard Other Dates In Circulation," the family established.

The family's account contradicts information on Google, which suggests that the Apostle Kwadwo Safo was 90 years old.

Akufo-Addo eulogises the late Kantanka

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that former president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had visited late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka's residence to commiserate with the family.

The president and his entourage, comprising Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and former Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare, were welcomed with cheers as they arrived at the late Kantanka's home.

Akufo-Addo opened up about his personal relationship with Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, recounting how he came to him as his personal lawyer 40 years ago.
