Cristiano Ronaldo is more selfish than Messi, says ex-Man United chairman Martin Edwards

- Cristiano Ronaldo has been tagged as a selfish player by ex-Man United chairman Martin Edwards

- Edwards believes Ronaldo used to celebrate his goals alone while Messi celebrates with his teammates

- Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both won the Ballon d'Or award five times each

Former Manchester United chairman Martin Edwards has attacked Cristiano Ronaldo claiming the Portuguese football star is more selfish than rival Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo and Messi were both involved in the Champions League quarterfinal games on Wednesday night, April 10, for Juventus and Barcelona respectively.

Juventus drew 1-1 with goals from Ronaldo and David Neres, Barcelona registered a narrow win over the Red Devils courtesy of an early Luke Shaw own goal.

Martin Edwards has now recalled the first time he saw Ronaldo who was at the time a teenager revealing that the Portuguese star showed off a lot of his tricks.

"I saw him the first time, at the age of 18, with Bolton in August and I was excited, he did certain tricks with the ball, the guys and I call them one trick ponies, the talented horses, who like to amaze, tried shooting and produced magic, if but a flash.

''Then he developed so much, but we couldn't imagine it coming to this. Not even Ferguson.

"Comparison between Ronaldo and Messi? The Argentine is more of a team man, and is also noticeable when he rejoices. He goes towards his companions. CR7 is more selfish, tends to celebrate on his own and expects others to run towards him,'' Edwards told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh had reported how Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is among the richest footballers in the world considering what he earns in Turin and also the money he has made since he began his football career.
