2022 World Cup Qualifiers: Ghana face South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia

Ghana will battle South Africa, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

This follows the draw for the African qualifiers held in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday, January 21, 2020.

The Black Stars of Ghana defeated the Bafana Bafana of South Africa both home and away when she qualified for her first World Cup in 2006 in Germany.

The two countyries have already met in an African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Cape Coast in which the Black Stars won 2-0.

Ghana was seeded alongside Cameroon, Algeria Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, Mali and Congo Democratic Republic in Pot 1.

Per the new format, Ghana will have to top her group in order to stand a chance of playing in the 3rd and final round which is a knockout stage.

The winners of the respective knockout matches will qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Ghana missed the 2018 World Cup held in Russia and hopes to return to the biggest football mundial in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Cameroon and Ivory Coast will slug it out in what will be a group of death.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the University Ghana, Legon, has put to test their own version of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) cameras in a match between their male football team and UMAT.

Five cameras plus a drone were used to cover the match. The experiment is the first time Ghana is using the VAR technology in a football match.
