Top Ghanaian female stars and the football teams they support

The position of football as the most popular sport in Ghana cannot in any way be questioned as it is enjoyed by people from all backgrounds in the country.

While it remains the most popular sport, there is no argument about the fact that is a sport which is most followed men (the male folks).

In recent times , there has been a surge in women's interest in football and that is clear when you take to social media during live football matches.

These women showing an interest and even a depth of knowledge in football which will surprise many a man have included some of our favourite female celebrities and stars.

YEN.com.gh brings you a list of some of these football-loving female celebrities and the clubs they support.

1. Nana Aba Anamoah:

The GHOne TV broadcaster is one of the female celebrities with a very high interest in the game of football.

Known to be a a Manchester United fan, it is her support and love for the club that got her to photoshop herself into the Old Trafford, albeit as a social media joke, which eventually led to to her leaving TV3.

On the local front, she is known to be a fan of Accra Great Olympics.

2. Joselyn Dumas:

The beautiful actress and TV/radio personality does not readily come across as someone who likes football.

But the beautiful actress goes beyond just having an interest in football. She is actually someone who has shown a lot of competence in football matters.

A look on her Twitter timeline during football weekends sees her even discuss tactics and substitutions at times.

She is also a Manchester United fan as the tweet below which was in response to th club's 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs about two weeks ago clearly shows.

3. Juliet Ibrahim:

Actress Juliet Ibrahim is is also one of Ghana's female celebrities who have publicly showed their fondness for football.

She even travelled to Russia to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup as a support of Nigeria's Super Green Eagles.

She is a supporter of Liverpool FC and though she was left leftheartbroken after Real Madrid beat the English club in the final of the 2018 UEFA Champions League, she still chose to remain a supporter.

4. Joyce Serwaa Amihere:

The GHOne TV newscaster is one strong football fan.

Hosting 'Cheers', a football-themed lifestyle show in addition to her news reading duties at the TV station, it is obvious that Serwaa was had to have an interest in the game to be successful.

She is known to also be a fan of Manchester United. Being a protege of Nana Aba, this shpuld not surprise anyone.

5. Rosalind Amoh:

A Graphic Sports journalist, Rosalinf Amoah may not be your regular (everyday) celebrity but she is star write and a celebrated sports journalist.

Being one of the few women to have thrived in the sports journalism field which is heavily dominated by men, she is an authority in football and often appears on TV as a pundit during football tournaments.

She is known to support London-based Arsenal FC.

6. Kokui Selormey:

Kokui is a singer and media personality who was once the co-host of the now defunct Viasat 1's morning show.

After Kwese Free Sports bought Viasat 1, Kokui remained with the station and has metamorphosed into a sports presenter co-hosting Kwese's flagship show with Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

Kokui is a self-professed Arsenal fan.
