Popular Ghanaian celebrities who used to be teachers
Many of our celebrated entertainment and political personalities did not attain their status overnight. They worked hard through thick and thin to make names for themselves.
While some have roamed in a variety of occupations before arriving at the door of stardom, others have also had to battle a number of obstacles before reaching such heights.
But there is also a third school who passed through the cycle first being teachers before rising to become celebrities.
You might think teaching and acting or singing have nothing in common, but the fact is that both demand hard work and artistry to succeed.
YEN.com.gh brings you a list of seven Ghanaian celebrities who were once teachers.
1. Emelia Brobbey
The Kumawood actress has not always held the dream of appearing in movies. In fact, she was once a teacher and taught for a while before starting her acting career.

2. Atumpan
Hiplife artiste Atumpan is another Ghanaian celeb who took to teaching before gaining fame. The “the thing” hit maker used to teach in Ghana before moving to the UK, but later returned to continue his music career.
3. Peace Hyde
Radio and TV personality Peace Hyde was actually a teacher before moving into the media domain. The broadcaster used to be a science teacher, however, later opted against becoming a full-time teacher.

4. Kwabena Kwabena
Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena is known for his good singing attributes. However, what many people do not know is that he was also a teacher during his formative years.
5. Ohemaa Mercy
Gospel songstress Ohemaa Mercy is another celebrity who first engaged in teaching before taking to music. The singer had initially wanted to become a teacher after completing Nursing Training College, but changed her mind after her first single became a hit.

6. Asiedu Nketia (General Mosquito)
The general secretary of the NDC used to be a teacher. He even confessed to taking advantage of his diminutive figure to write an exams for a dead student in the school where he was teaching.
He said he agreed with management to do that to preserve the school's 100% record in the exams.
7. Barbara Asher Ayisi
The deputy minister of education used to be a teacher at Wesley Girls Senior High School. In a recent interview with YEN.com.gh, she revealed that she taught for 12 years before joining politics.
