7 world famous celebrities you never knew were Ghanaians

Many Ghanaians have settled and brought up their families in different countries.

These Ghanaians traveled to these countries to seek greener pastures.

However, it has been discovered that some of the brilliant and famous international celebrities we see on our screens are Ghanaians.

A few of these people have also traced their roots to Ghana.

1. Kofi Kingston:

His real name his Kofi Nahaje Sarkodie-Mensah. He is Ghanaian and was born in Kumasi.

He is a famous wrestler. He is the newly-crowned WWE champion after 11 years of active participation in the rough sport.

2. Peter Mensah:

Peter is known for his role in the ‘Spartacus’ TV series. He is Ghanaian and was born in Chiraa in the Ahafo Region.

He moved to the United Kingdom at a young age with his parents.

3. Senyo Kodzo Amoaku:

Senyo popularly known as Grifon Aldren is an international movie director with huge ties to Hollywood. He was born to Ghanaian parents from the Volta region.

4. Boris Kodjoe:

The talented model and popular Hollywood actor’s father is a native of Nzema in the Western region of Ghana.

His full name is Boris Frederic Cecil Tay-Natey Ofuatey-Kodjoe. His mother is from Germany.

5. Cynthia Addai-Robinson:

The actress was born in London. Her mother is from Ghana and her father was a U.S. citizen.

She moved to the U.S. when she was 4 and was raised by her mother in a suburb of Washington, D.C.

She shot to fame when she played the role of Amanda Waller in ‘Arrow’ TV series.

6. Memphis Depay:

Memphis was born in 1994 to a Ghanaian father, Dennis Depay, and a Dutch mother, Cora Schensema, in the small South Holland village of Moordrecht.

He opted to play for the Holland national team instead of Ghana. He currently plies his trade in the French ligue 1 for Lyon.

7. Vic Mensah:

His real name is Victor Kwesi Mensah. He is half Ghanaian and half American.

He is a Grammy award nominated American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer.

He is currently signed to Roc Nation. Mensa was a member of the group Kids These Days, which broke up in May 2013, after which he released his debut solo mixtape .
