Coronavirus: Ghanaians join Akufo-Addo to seek divine intervention against COVID-19

- Ghanaians have joined President Akufo-Addo to embark on a national day of fasting and prayer today, March 25, 2020

- President Akufo-Addo called on all religious bodies and Ghanaians in general to seek the face of God to intervene and bring to an end the coronoavirus

- The president made the appeal in a televised broadcast on March 21, 2020

On the back of an appeal from President Akufo-Addo, Ghanaians are embarking on a day of fasting and prayers against the coronavirus which has claimed thousands of lives.

Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo set aside today March 25, 2020, during his broadcast to the nation on enhanced measures taken by the government to contain the COVID-19.

The country has recorded a sharp rise of 27 to 53 coronavirus cases as at March 24, 2020, and has already claimed two lives.

President Akufo-Addo urged all religious bodies across the country and Ghanaians, in general, to embark on a day of fasting today [Wednesday], March 25, 2020, to seek divine intervention in the affairs of the nation regarding coronavirus.

At a televised prayer meeting held at the Jubilee House, the seat of the presidency in Accra on Thursday, March 19, 2020, the president rightly noted that the country is not in ordinary times and called on Ghanaians to seek the face of Go for healing and restoration.

President Akufo-Addo said the country will be putting into practice the words of the Holy Scriptures in James 5:14.

It is on the back of this appeal that many Ghanaians have taken to social media to share prayers, videos and views about the national day of prayer.

Meanwhile, globally coronavirus has claimed the lives of about 19,000 in the last few months.

YEN.com.gh previously reported that the Church of Pentecost (CoP) in partnership with Tobinco Pharmaceuticals has donated health items worth GHC45,000 to the Ministry of Health deal with the COVID-19.

The church donated the personal protective logistics to support the Government of Ghana in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the items presented were coveralls, nose masks, N95 Respirators, face shields, goggles, aprons, examination gloves, heavy-duty gloves, gumboots and hand sanitisers.
