Ghana zip code number, list, post tracking

Ghana zip code, where Zip code is an abbreviation of Zone Improvement Plan, is a developed system that facilitates mail delivery from one region to another. The unique identity is made up of five and/or nine coded digits that come immediately after the address digits. The five digits at the beginning show the postal zone, as well as the state, and is referred to as the initial codes. The expanded codes are the last four digits. They indicate the rural route region, building, or the specific location that the mail is to be delivered.

Ghana zip code number has been operational since 18th October 2017 after the National Digit Address System launch. The numbers come through the official government mailing service.

Whether you choose to call them zip, post, or postal codes, they refer to the same thing. The only difference lies in how different states in the world refer to them. Some countries like the United States refer to them as zip, while other countries prefer to use postal or postcodes.

Ghana zip code

What is Ghana zip code? Every administrative section has a unique number that identifies it. This is used for the delivery of mail. You are required to have the right zip code for Ghana if your mails are to be delivered to the right location. You can get them by selecting the mail city or town destination.

Use the interactive map for instances where you are unsure of the town or delivery location.

The country does not have official postal codes. This has not prevented citizens from making use of them. Some of the generated ones include 00233 and 23321. Anyone can use these either when shopping online or when filling online forms.

However, GhanaPostGPS App was recently developed by the Ghana Post in collaboration with the Government and it gives a unique addressing system of 5×5 and this applies to every region in the nation. Citizens are encouraged to use this unique number. The app can be downloaded from the app store.

The app has been essential in the generation of both numbers for the various renown areas in the country. Normally, they begin with a GA where G is the Greater Accra Region and A represents Accra Metropolitan Districts and the following number is the zip number. The Ghana Zip code list includes:

  • Osu: GA035, GA055, GA056, GAO81, GA082, GA112 – GA115, GA146 – GA148
  • West Ridge: GA050, GA051, GA077, GA107
  • North Ridge: GA015 – GA017, GA028 – GA031, GA052 – GA054, GA076, GA080
  • Asylum Down: GA027, GA028, GA048, GA049, GA073
  • Gold Coast City: GA078, GA079, GA110, GA111
  • Adabraka: GA050, GA074 – GA076, GA100 – GA103
  • Tudu: GA105, GA106, GA141, GA142
  • Victoriaborg: GA143 – GA145, GA184 – GA186

When using these numbers, one is required to be very specific by including the name of the area in addition to a well-known landmark. Bear in mind that numbers could be similar and as such, some level of confusion could arise. However, with the a distinct landmark to back it up, chances of such mistakes are eradicated completely.
