Lordina Mahama, the former first lady, has paid homage to her ''soul mate'' and the man standing beside her, John Dramani Mahama, as he marks his 62nd birthday.

As earlier reported by YEN.com.gh, John Mahama was born on November 29, 1958, a year later after Ghana attained independence in 1957.

In an earnest birthday message to John Mahama, Lordina described her husband as her ''inspiration, strength, and soul mate.''

The former first lady noted that through their strife and pleasant times, Mahama had ''always [been] there when I need you. Having you by my side has meant the world to me.''

''Truly, if I am asked the secret to a happy marriage, I would be tempted to say “finding a husband like you,'' she added.

Touching on his strength, Lordina stressed that nobody comes into contact with the former president without being positively impacted by him.

The mother of five, prayed for good health, long life, and for God to give the father of her children many more reasons to continue to smile.

''May God open the eyes of all to see the purity in your heart and the selfless, committed man you are to family, friends, and our dear country.

''Happy 62nd birthday and God bless you my dear husband- my perfect gift from God. More Love, hugs, and kisses from me and the children. Always read and remember Psalm 121: 1-8. Love always,'' she said.

Some NDC loyalists, friends, and admirers have reacted to the former first lady's love letter.

Paa Kow Cantah wished the former president joy today and every day of the coming year!

He wrote: ''Happy birthday to your dear husband and our incoming President! I wish him plenty of joy today and every day of the coming year! He is a fantastic example of wisdom, leadership, and foresight. On his birthday, I wish him peace, good health, and happiness. God shall arise.''

Don Political Parrot also wrote: ''Happy birthday day to our Father for getting a plus one year to his age on this very day of ours and we pray that God should bless his new age by rewarding him the presidency of our motherland Ghana come December 7th.''

The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) was born on November 29, 1958, a year later after Ghana attained independence in 1957.

Mahama is a native of Damongo in the Damango-Daboya Constituency in the Northern Region.
