Man drowns while trying to save 'mentally unstable' boy from drowning

Unfortunate news reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that a middle-aged man has drowned while trying to save another drowning young boy.
According to a report filed by StarrNews, the two people drowned in a stream at Aduamoa, in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.
The 40-year-old Ernest Antwi, who is a mobile money distributor was trying to save a yet-to-be-identified 14-year-old boy while he was drowning.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday, March 27, 2021.
According to an eyewitness report, Ernest Antwi went to the stream to wash his car.
He then saw the 14-year-old boy believed to be mentally deranged drowning in the 8 -feet deep stream.
Unfortunately for him, he could not save the boy as both of them ended up drowning.
Their bodies were retrieved at about 10:00 pm on that fateful day by the community members and deposited at the Atibie Government Hospital mortuary.
According to the Assembly Member for the area, Osei Bonsu, four residents have drowned in the stream since the year 2015.
In other news, a young man is in police grips for allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend at a hotel in Kokomlemle.
In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge revealed that the Nima Police made the arrest after a complaint was lodged by the management of the hotel.
Isaac Mensah, 25, reportedly lodged at the hotel with his girlfriend on March 1, 2021, and left the next day without returning to the hotel.
The management of the hotel after smelling a stench from the room they occupied broke into the room only for them to find the lifeless body of the lady on the bed.
DSP Effia Tenge said investigations by the Nima police traced the suspect, Isaac to his hideout in Mampong.
She revealed that the suspect after committing the crime locked the door to the room, took away the lady's phones, cashed out money from her mobile wallet, and also sold one of her phones.
