42-Year-Old Catholic Priest Quits His Calling after 6 Years in His Parish, Says He's in Love
- A Catholic priest named Riccardo Ceccobelli has called it quits with his priesthood
- In a statement by the diocese, he gave love as the reason for making this decision
- Riccardo said that he cannot continue to be consistent and transparent as matters of the church require
A Catholic priest has told his parishioners that he cannot continue to be consistent and coherent in the ways of the church as his heart is in love.
The priest named Riccardo Ceccobelli made this statement on Sunday, April 11 as he disclosed he will hang his cassock, a release published on Tuesday, April 13 by the diocese confirms.
Riccardo who has held sway for 6 years as the priest of the central Italy parish added that he had however not been opportune to go against the promises he made.
"My heart is in love although I have never had the opportunity to transgress the promises I made.
"I want to try to live this love without repressing it, without pushing it away."
According to The News, the 42-year-old has since been suspended from his duties while measures and formalities are already in place to aid his return to lay state.
Reacting to the stunning announcement, Bishop Gualtiero Sigismondi who had been by his side while he addressed the parishioners appreciated Riccardo for his services so far.
He went on to wish him well in the choice he has made.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a Catholic priest who dumped priesthood had walked down the aisle with his lover.
A Facebook user Shedrack Okpume making this revelation wrote:
“During the week report come in that Rev Fr Godspower Inaelegwu who resigned in Kano got married even before his resignation, also rumour has it that he actually faked his kidnap in order to quit the Priesthood
"..So pathetic and some persons will come and tell me to pray for him, when he himself allowed the devil to use him, accumulating wealth for himself through the Priesthood, rubbish rubbish..."
