The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has disclosed that the church is working on completing three more prisons and hand over to the government before the end of the year 2021.

He made this revelation in Ejura, Ashanti Region, where he commissioned and handed over an ultramodern prison camp to the Ghana Prisons Service there.

He said the prison camps are under construction and have reached very levels at Nsawam, Obuasi, and Damango, according to a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Pulse.com.gh.

Apostle Nyamekye explained that the decision to build prisons for Ghana was motivated by the 2021 theme of the church, “Possession the Nations”.

Meanwhile, the Ejura Prison camp was jointly commissioned by the Pentecost Chairman, the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery, and the Chief of Ejura, Barima Osei Hwedie II.

The camp comprises an administration block, a chapel which will also serve as classrooms, football pitch, baptistry, modern washrooms, mechanized borehole, offices, infirmary, workshops, and other auxiliary facilities.

The church has been severely criticised by the public as to why it would build prisons instead of other “needed” things like factories to generate employment for the youth.

However, the chairman reported dispelled the questions posed to him with an explanation.

According to him, the church has already undertaken the construction of police stations, provision of mechanized boreholes in rural communities, community clinics, and others.

He also mentioned the Environmental Care Campaign to clean Ghana, skill and livelihood training for its members, among others in the past two years as part of its vision to transform lives and society.
