Doctors at the facility have been accused of rejecting results from the hospital’s laboratory.

According to a Starr News report, the doctors frequently recommend to patients who visit the facility to “conduct their lab tests at private facilities within the area instead of the hospital’s lab.”

The worrying development rendered staff of the hospital who are on the state’s payroll idle, the report stated.

Investigations by the privately-owned media house uncovered that tests run at the hospital’s labs are completely rejected by some of the doctors.

They will then request that the patient goes for a refund from the hospital and then instruct the patient to have his or her test conducted at a private lab.

The doctors will write the names of these private labs at the back of the prescription with his or her request and name.

“There are many instances our labs run results and they will reject it and even recommend to the patients to come for their money. And often, the patients come for the money and then go out to do the same tests,” a source at the facility told the Accra-based news organisation.

One of the victims of these nefarious conducts by some of the doctors opened up on her ordeal. The mother of a patient said she was forced to conduct the lab test at the hospital despite a private facility being recommended to her because the cost at the private lab was too exorbitant.

After running the tests for Blood C/S at the hospital, the doctor refused it, asking her to “take care of her child herself, if she won’t do as he asked,” the outlet reported.
