On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the former Guinness World Record longest singing marathon attemptee confirmed swirling rumours that her marriage was on the rocks.
Speaking with Ghanaian prophet Fire Oja, she said she and her husband had not officially divorced but had separated for undisclosed reasons, which she described as a ‘good cause’.
"I am not divorced. We are separated for a good cause, and I am gradually healing. It is not any big deal,” she said.

After her initial claim went viral, Afua Asantewaa’s husband reportedly spoke to Gh Page TV and denied that they were separated.
That appeared to trigger her as she went on social media and slammed her husband, sharing more details about their split and opening up about her grievances against him.
"My partner is an over-30-year-experienced journalist, but he has never come out to defend me before. But during the singathon, he was able to stand on camera and say he was proud of his wife,” Afua Asantewaa angrily said.

Erskine Whyte blasts Afua Asantewaa
After sharing her frustrations with her husband on social media, Ghanaian media personality Erskine Whyte slammed Afua Asantewaa.
In a post shared to Twitter, he criticised her decision to air her dirty laundry in public and said social media was not going to help her solve her issues.
“Do you know the number of people who are divorced lowkey and living their normal lives? Bring your matter to social media and enjoy whatever they do to you at your own peril! I know it feels like people hear you here when you come share your issues, but you see, 98% go take am as content and run with it anyhow,” he wrote.
