In a TikTok live session with Prophet Fire Oja, Afua Asantewaa announced that she and her husband were separated after her relocation to Canada and not divorced.
The Guinness World Record (GWR) singing marathon hopeful also stated that she was healing from an unspecified setback she was facing in her marriage.
"We are separated for a good cause, and I am gradually healing. It is not any big deal."
After publicly announcing her separation, some concerned Ghanaians demanded that she keep her marital issues off social media instead of fuelling the drama.
Afua Asantewaa claps back at critics
In a video from a TikTok live session, the media personality sent a strong warning to her fans, asking them not to tell her to keep mute.
Afua Asantewaa said silence is no longer golden, explaining that the late Daddy Lumba's first wife, Akosua Serwaa, was a clear example.
“Silence is not golden in this era. I am a trained journalist, and so I know when to speak and when not to speak.”
Afua Asantewaa further disclosed the pain she went through in her marriage, claiming her husband never came out to defend her when several allegations were made against her and when she had issues with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The media personality added that there were circumstances when she handed over her authority to Kofi Owusu Aduonom as the head of the family.
