Canada: 7 High-Paying Government Job Vacancies Open in August 2026

The Government of Canada has opened recruitment across seven federal job categories, with salaries ranging from approximately C$29 per hour to more than C$122,000 equivalent to $87,000 annually, covering both entry-level and experienced roles.
The hiring exercise spans several agencies, including the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Parks Canada, Correctional Service Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard and the House of Commons.

Highest-paying roles at the CRA
The top-paying positions come from the CRA, which is recruiting income tax auditors, international tax auditors, business valuators and tax avoidance auditors for roles based in Atlantic Canada.
These positions offer between C$99,864 and C$122,817 per year and require accounting qualifications alongside several years of Canadian tax compliance experience. The application window closes on 13 October 2026.
The CRA is also hiring SP-04 officers in Jonquière, Quebec, at salaries between C$65,389 and C$73,595 annually, with a closing date of 30 October 2026. Entry-level positions at the SP-01 to SP-04 grade are available in Sudbury, Ontario, paying between C$46,904 and C$73,595, and require little or no prior work experience. Those applications close on 27 November 2026.
Roles across multiple provinces
The Canadian Coast Guard is seeking Response and Compliance Officers across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec, at annual salaries of C$74,995 to C$95,704.
Successful applicants must be prepared to travel by ship or aircraft, operate in remote locations, and be available for weekend, overtime and emergency deployments. A secondary school certificate is the minimum educational requirement.
Correctional Service Canada is advertising Correctional Officer I positions at federal facilities across eight provinces, with salaries of C$77,510 to C$97,266 per year. Applicants must complete a three-stage training programme and pass medical and psychological assessments before deployment on rotating shifts. That posting remains open until 31 December 2026.
Parks Canada is recruiting Maintenance Worker III staff for coastal British Columbia, offering C$29.20 to C$31.73 per hour.
The role suits tradespeople with backgrounds in plumbing, carpentry, electrical work or equipment maintenance, and notably accepts applications from anyone already legally authorised to work in Canada.
The House of Commons is also accepting ongoing applications for student roles in Ottawa, covering areas such as cybersecurity, engineering, communications, accounting, broadcasting and information technology, with salaries ranging from C$38,751 to C$64,902 annually.

Most federal vacancies are listed on the Government of Canada GC Jobs portal. CRA-specific roles are available through the CRA Careers website, while parliamentary student positions can be accessed via the House of Commons careers portal.
Officials have advised applicants to submit early, as inventory-based recruitment processes may begin shortlisting candidates before advertised closing dates.
Canada announces work permit fee for foreigners
In a related development, YEN.com.gh reported that Canada has published the cost of obtaining a work permit for individual applicants.
According to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website, an individual applicant must pay CAD 155 to obtain a work permit.
