Two quick first half goals were all Arsenal needed to unsettle Southampton in Sunday's Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners got the game off to a flying start as French striker Alexandre Lacazette shot the hosts in front after just six minutes of play.

With Henrikh Mkhitaryan claiming the assist for the opening goal, and just eleven minutes later, the 30-year-old Armenian forward doubled his side's lead from close range.

The former Manchester United star received a superb pass from Super Eagles attacker from the left wing before carefully tapping the ball into the net.

With this win, Unai emery's men are back in the top four - one point better than Manchester United, and two more than Chelsea who have one match at hand.

This also means that the north Londoners have won 16 of their last 27 English topflight matches - drawing five and losing the remaining six.

Arsenal were forced to replace Stephan Lichtsteiner with Laurent Koscielny as the 35-year-old picked up a knock during the match.

Meanwhile, the Gunners will hope they can maintain their superb form when they welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, February 27.
