Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku played a decisive role as Leicester City fought back to claim a 2-2 draw against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday.

The winger, who joined Leicester from Sporting CP, was influential throughout the contest and produced a superb assist for the equaliser in the second half.

His performance stood out in a match where the Foxes had to overcome both adversity and a numerical disadvantage.

Leicester’s afternoon took a difficult turn in the 23rd minute when debutant Aaron Ramsey, on loan from Burnley, was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Filip Krastev.

By that point, Will Lankshear had already put Oxford ahead, only for Ghana captain Jordan Ayew to pounce on a defensive error to restore parity almost immediately.

Just before half-time, Oxford regained the lead after Ben Davies’s header deflected off Boubakary Soumaré for an own goal.

Despite being a man down, Leicester showed resilience after the break.

Issahaku, drifting into space, delivered an inch-perfect ball for half-time substitute Pereira, who slotted into the bottom corner in the 55th minute.

The former Dreams FC star was subbed off in the 75th minute for Zambian international Patson Daka.

The winger was one of the Foxes’ most influential players on the pitch, leading the game in several key areas.

He won the most duels (7), completed the most dribbles (5), and tied for the most chances created (2), underlining his attacking threat and work rate throughout the match.

The draw leaves Leicester encouraged by their fighting spirit, with Issahaku’s creativity proving decisive in securing a point.

The winger knows the weight of long absences. Last season, he suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury in November, which sidelined him for 260 days.

In total, he missed 29 matches as Leicester struggled through relegation from the Premier League, according to Transfermarkt.

That long road back makes his current form even more impressive.

For now, Leicester can breathe easy knowing their star man’s withdrawal was precautionary rather than a major setback.

And for Fatawu, who missed out on Ghana's 24-man squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the focus is clear — to build on his blistering form and stay fit.
