3 times sports betting changed the lives of bettors

If compared to lottery, sports betting is a relatively new phenomenon in Ghana. However in the last five or so years, the game has spread to every corner of this country. From football to horse-racing, sports betting offers variety for investment. By YEN.com.gh's count there are over ten betting companies in the country.

The reservations over an activity that many have pushed away has eased down over the years. This means more and more people are open and upfront with their passion.

YEN.com.gh enumerates three occasions where bet wins would have certainly changed the lives of the winners in Ghana.

1. GHC 4 for GHC 990,650 for Betway bettor

Last year in what is certainly the biggest win ever from sports betting in Ghana's history, a young man in Kumasi won a whooping GHC 990,650 from a stake of just 4 cedis.

As expected, the identity of the winner was not disclosed by the betting company. However, within a few days we got to know it was one Kwame Fosuhene.

Betway were then forced to award him his prize in public to the full glare of all.

2. Another Betway win of GHC 144, 641

Seth K. won an amount of GHC 144, 641 from a special jackpot programme run by Betway. What is interesting about this win was that he could have won GHC 1.6 million.

However, while the 12th game of his 12-game prediction was going his way, Betway called him to offer him a settlement. Afraid that the game might turn against him, Seth took Betway's offer.

It turned out that partcular game ended according to his prediction. But Seth said in an interview that he has no regrets.

3. Soccabet winner takes home 50k with GHC 2

Only on Sunday July 29 2018, the sun shone brightest for another hopeful investor with Soccabet. The winner, name withheld, won over GHC 50,000 with just 2 cedis.

The winner has by far the biggest odds-to-win ratio from a Soccabet investor, with odds of 22043. That is a very impressive feat.
